Scenario 1.2: Expectations are not being upheld during unstructured times
Behaviour outside lessons, at break, lunch, or between classes, has slipped. While lessons may be calm, corridor interactions, queuing, and social time are inconsistent. Students test boundaries when not directly supervised, and staff apply expectations unevenly.

Leadership Behaviours to Support This Challenge
| Code | Behaviour | Why It Matters |
| C1 | Hold High Standards | Reinforces that expectations apply across all times and spaces, not just in class. |
| C3 | Establish Routines | Defined procedures for movement, queuing, and supervision create clarity and order. |
| C4 | Maintain Consistency | Reinforces that culture exists during unstructured time, not just in lessons. |
| L3 | Get the Steps In | Being visibly present at key times signals that leaders value calm and safety. |
| T10 | Embrace Accountability | Holding staff to account for being present and upholding expectations strengthens consistency. |

Suggested Approach
- Audit unstructured times to pinpoint where and why expectations are not upheld.
- Revisit and relaunch routines for key times (e.g. entering assembly, lining up, transitions).
- Ensure all leaders are visible at high-traffic times and model expectations.
- Celebrate staff and students who contribute to a calm and respectful environment.
- Follow up where supervision is weak or expectations aren’t upheld.
