L12. Control the Controllables – Coach and Practice
This behaviour develops a leader’s focus on what can be influenced today, reducing wasted energy on what cannot.

Behaviour focus
Attention discipline, action on the sphere of control.

Purpose
To protect energy, improve outcomes, and steady the team in uncertainty.
| Action Steps | Key Questions | Practice |
| Sort issues by control. | What is in my control, influence, or concern only? | Take a current worry list and categorise each item, then pick one control action now. |
| Act on the next item. | What is the smallest useful move today? | Practise breaking one large problem into three 15 minute actions and schedule them. |
| Set news and noise limits. | What inputs drain focus without payoff? | Create two boundaries for the week, such as email windows or meeting limits, and hold them. |
| Teach the habit. | How will I help the team do the same? | Lead a five minute exercise in briefing to categorise team concerns and agree one control action per person. |
