L9. Use the Checklist – Coach and Practice
This behaviour develops a leader’s discipline to embed consistent quality through simple checklists.

Behaviour focus
Reducing errors and variation by standardising key steps.

Purpose
To free attention for judgement by making routine tasks reliable.
| Action Steps | Key Questions | Practice |
| Pick a high leverage process. | Where do small misses cause big pain? | Choose one process, such as trip approval or assessment cycle, and draft a 7 step checklist. |
| Make it usable. | Is it clear, short, and visible at the point of use? | Test the checklist with two users, refine wording, and print or pin where work happens. |
| Rehearse the run through. | How will the team use it under time pressure? | Do a timed practice in the meeting, call and response through each step, then debrief. |
| Audit and improve. | What failed, what saved us, what to change? | After first live use, run a five minute after action review and tweak one step. |
